Photoperiod Autoflower and pro coverage explained

Home Grower Vs Pro grower

We recommend high light intensity (PAR intensity, µmols/m²/second) for home growers of about 900 µmols/m²/second for photoperiod plants on a 12 hour light cycle . This will deliver an excellent yield from your grow space without stressing your plants.

We recommend very high PAR intensity for Pro growers (highly skilled and experienced growers) of about 1,300 µmols/m²/second for photoperiod plants on a 12 hour light cycle. This is at the maximum PAR intensity a plant can absorb. The risk is over stressing your plants if the environmental conditions, nutrition and watering are not precisely controlled. Even with perfect garden management some strains can hermie, foxtail and re-veg if the light intensity is over about 1,200 µmols/m²/second.

Photoperiod, Autoflower and vegetative stage light intensity

Photoperiod, autoflower and vegetative stage plants can absorb the same amount of light per day. However the number of hours the lights are on differs.
  • Photoperiod plants require 12 hours light to flower.
  • Autoflowering plants can absorb light over a 20 hour period.
  • Vegetative stage plants are usually lit for 18 hours per day.
For this reason we recommend home growers target 900 µmols/m²/second for photoperiod plants and reduce to about 500 µmols/m²/second for Autoflowering and vegetative plants.
